Not sure if this will help, but....

I was not able to see/play the audio track from a .mod file captured from a Panasonic camcorder using Vegas 8. Vegas 6 and Windows Media player had no problem.

I contacted Sony support, and they said to change the file extension to .vob instead of .mod. Everything now works just fine.

Hope this can help someone!"

Thanks 3.1415926536 ... I have been using the free U tube downloader to convert each file which has quite frankly been a pain and the quality less than desirable. You trick works fine .... But good grief, I feel as though Sony have sold me a duff product!

I got similar problem, It took 13 days to reply from SONY.

And they said:

"You should know that we only officially support importing DVD that originated from a DVD camcorder. Any other DVDs that were created in some other program are not supported and might not work in Vegas.

Sony don't face this problem.

How's everyone's experience with 8.0b? Since Sony provided the "vob-alias" workaround, I don't have any mpeg files left that cause this problem.

I have a related problem, very happy with Vegas 8.0 but am in need of voice over capabilities... MY PROBLEM-I bought M-Audio Fast Track Pro to facilitate voice over. Everything is recognized through Vegas 8.0. except I CAN'T RECORD!!! I can't even monitor my voice through mic and headphones in M-Audio.. Have checked everything appropriate on Options/preferences and also OS on my computer.

Help!

Confused...
Could you tell me exactly where is the extension that I have to change to .vob?
Thanks.

I am still having a problem not having any audio, but I'm using Vegas 4. Changing to mpg or vob is not working.
Anybody else have any ideas?
Why can' these damn cameras use all the same file extensions???

Although I've never tried this, it may be a quick work around:

http://www.videohelp.com/tools/PX3_AC3_to_WAV

It's free and small, may be imperfect according to a post there, but it works

If this doesn't work the way you need, you could google "Super", which is also free and an all around converter. You may be able to drop the mpeg in it and it may convert, but since I never convert ac3 or mpeg to wave, so I have no experience

I forgot, the Super website will make you jump thru a few pages before you get to the download. Don't get sidetracked with some other stuff they throw before your eyes first, just look for the "Super" download

I'm getting no sound from any AVIs that I have previously captured (24 hours worth of video). So disappointed, I wish I bought pinnacle studio instead(I think I would have if they offered it for download online). Yeah, it crashes every 5 minutes but atleast it works for 5 minutes...
