I'm QUITTING Vegas Pro and here's why!!

RockyBenetton wrote on 3/5/2025, 12:27 PM

I started editing in August 2024 when I launched my YouTube channel. Back then, I was completely confused about which editing software to use. For some reason—maybe I wasn’t thinking straight—I chose Vegas Pro. Not DaVinci, not Premiere Pro… VEGAS PRO.

To be fair, Vegas has been pretty good and has helped me edit my videos so far. But now that I want to push forward with more advanced graphics, I have to admit—Vegas isn’t the most intuitive software.

On top of that, there’s barely any community support where I’m from. So, I’m now considering switching to either DaVinci or Premiere Pro… but I’m stuck.

I need help deciding!

For me personally, Vegas is the most intuitive, and i have used and tried them all during my many years in this professional field..... It is also what i use to handle all my advanced graphics, with the help of some equally advanced plugins.

Therefore, no one here can decide for you or convince you as to which editing software to use, you have to find what best works for you, one that fits your workflow (style of editing), and one that you are comfortable working with on a daily basis for ease of use.

You can download and use the trial versions of all of them to get a true feeling as to what works best for you, and the one that helps you complete your edits faster.

I feel like I haven't unlocked Vegas's full potential yet, which is why I sometimes struggle with it. Honestly, I've only been editing for about six months, and Vegas was quite easy to pick up. However, I often find more tutorials for the other two software programs related to the content I create, making things a bit easier for me.

That said, I'm not giving up on Vegas. I believe that as I learn the other software, I'll also discover new techniques and tricks in Vegas along the way.

I'm from India, and I recently faced an issue that seemed impossible to resolve click here . After much struggle, I realized it was a localized problem, which explained why I couldn’t find any solutions for it.

There are some good tutorials out there for VEGAS- I have found this channel valuable:

There are also many links here: https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/vegas-pro-tutorials--103245/

We have some active forum members here from India but it doesn't seem others had the same internet issue you did. It's not an issue I've seen brought up in the past, either.

As someone who owns both Vegas Pro and Davinci Resolve Studio 19x, I edit with Vegas. If I have a project, Vegas is what is opened. While I've had Resolve Studio for several years, I've edited nothing on it. Just dabbled. I am a layer based compositing type of person, not nodes.

Each editing software offers something better/different than the others. There is nothing wrong with having more than one editing solution on your computer. Many of use do.

I've learned a lot (I switched to Vegas Pro 8 years ago from a consumer editor) from reading the forums and just editing. Experimenting and asking questions is also important. Ask, and usually someone can come up with a "how to" video, script, instruction.

As for Premiere, great software. But you will never own it. You pay "forever". Stop paying, the software no longer works.

Learn Vegas Pro, you won't be disappointed, and will be pleasantly surprised how versatile it is.

Since posting this, I’ve been using DaVinci, and I have to admit, Vegas was much easier to grasp. I really appreciate your advice about combining the strengths of both, and that’s exactly what I’ve been doing.

I use Vegas for basic edits and then move to DaVinci for its Fusion feature — this might just become my editing workflow.

Honestly, I still have a lot to learn in Vegas too. Who knows, I might end up switching back to it entirely one day!
