None of them really are, since they tend to record MP4s. (These cams are primarily designed to just shoot and upload to YouTube. Nobody really expected that people would be trying to produce quality video projects with them.)
Does your professor know you're recording his lectures and how you're going to use them? (Just a legal issue.) If the answer is yes, he or should would probably appreciate your shooting with a real camcorder -- AND a decent remote or shotgun microphone, since no camcorder-mounted mikes can record well across a room.
But, that said, if I had to get a pocket cam, I'd go with the Flip. Even though, technically, they're being discontinued -- they're still the standard that all other pocket cams aim for.
There are some great sales on the Kodak Playsport/Playtouch/Playfull models right now. I suggest one with external mic jack (I own the Playtouch and the footage is pretty cooperative in Vegas).
Kodak may actually release the Playfull Dual in April, if they do I will buy one.
I bought a couple of the now discontinued Kodak Zx3 to use as "in car, dash board cameras." Sony Vegas Studio 11 handles the files easily. Of course, the support from Kodak is probably done considering their reorganization. But you can get it or the newer version on the cheap.
THE sony bloggie is relatively inexpensive and about the size of a cell phone i actually carry mine in a cell phone pouch it records great video in well lit areas .however it does become grainy in lower light situations ....there are tons of youtube clips showing what the video looks like ... and is easily able to edit in vms .......i assume would be the same in vegas pro ....but i use vms10 ..no issues at all
