I´ve got Vegas 9ew - w for wait

Aje wrote on 5/24/2010, 3:21 AM
OK -V9e/64 editing mxf files from 3 cams (3 different HDD) on an i7 computer dedicated to Vegas and DVDA.
Crashed every minute when editing until I after a while understood
that when it freezes don´t do anything just wait a while (up to a minute) and Vegas is ready to go for another minute or two and save, save, save often.
Must keep a deadline so wait a minute is faster then a freeze - finish process and load again.
This is not the way to work - what can be wrong?

Just do this for me - please?

Close Vegas and search out your UNDOs and REDOs for VegasPro9e. Has the Folder been emptied of them?

Have you got any Auto Save features active? Are there any OLD and mouldy BAKS in there too?

Cheers

Grazie

Have to say that I updated to 9e as soon as I finished my last 9c project. Couldn't be happier! Not quite as bomb proof as 8c, but pretty darn close. Projects open lightening quick. HDV scene split captures seem much neater too.

Aje,

Please make sure that you do not have any of your source material on an internal (or external) disk that might go into hibernation (spin down). Vegas might stumble and hang for a while in such a situation...

I had exactly this same problem with 9.0d (even with continuosuly spinning disks). It now seems to be solved in 9.0e (knock wood). Sad to hear that you are experiencing this. It is totally impossible to use an application that hangs one minute, and works another... I understand your frustration. But check your disks to make sure that theey are not spinning down... it might help.

Thanks for answer!
"search out your UNDOs and REDOs for VegasPro9e. Has the Folder been emptied of them?"
I´m not so god with computers - I searched the Vegas folder for undos and redos but didn´t find any folder containing those files.
Autosave features - in options/preferences?
Old baks are in the same folder as where I save my vegs?
Please be patient and give me more specific advice.

OK, do a search for this then:

Vegas Pro Undo Buffer 2.tmp

. . or . . . :-

Vegas Pro Redo Buffer 2.tmp

This should get you to the folder for Vegas 9 and where these are stored.

For the moment do NOT touch any BAK files.
