Icc profile

Hello.
I use two monitors. ( Belinea O display 60 Hz and Asus 120 Hz)

Because they are from 2 different types, I have calibrated them with Dispcal Gui /Spyder4 sensor.
Result is Ok: I can move a window from one screen to another without seiing différences.

Now, when I launch Vegas Pro 12, the 3D monitor (Asus) becomes much lighter.

When I close Vegas Pro 12, the screen displays everything correctly again.

Is there a setting somewhere for ICC profiles ? I know LAB does not need any profile, but setting colors correctly is very difficult !

" Is there a setting somewhere for ICC profiles ?"

Yes, in the Secondary Display Device preferences.

Thank you, farss.
My 2 screens are calibrated with 2 icc profiles(1 for each, (different of course).
That is why my 2 screens look the same with pictures.

Vega Pro 12 removes both profiles on both monitors when started. Calibration comes back when Vegas pro ends up.

No ICC subject in the service manual of Vegas pro 12 !
Before doing any color correction, I want to be sure what I see is aligned with Srgb standard !
Any idea ?

It appears you are correct. It's there in V9, gone in V11 and later.

I have found how to enable color management with Vegas Pro 12:
http://dspcdn.sonycreativesoftware.com/whitepapers/vegaspro12_s-log_and_aces_workflow.pdf

Enabling color management is explained on page 8.

A pdf file everyone should read !

I'm aware of the ACES workflow and I read that document before.
It doesn't cover using an ICC profile for your monitor. On top of that that workflow means using 32bit float which really slows things down.

I do know how to use ICC profiles on my monitors. And how to make a good profile.

I have just written to Sony, asking why my profiles are disabled when Vegas Pro is running.
Working with the 32 bit feature, ACES RRT Srgb also disables the monitor calibrations.

You can check that, for example, display a greyscale with Gimp, Photoshop ... on both screens (with only one screen, you'll see the difference.)
Now launch Vegas Pro, have a look to your grayscale... close Vegas pro !
Surprising, isn't it.

(I try to write in English as well as I can, but this is not my native language)

There was some discussion about this here. Megabit said it was working correctly (I think) on his VP11. Unfortunately I haven't moved past VP10 or XP yet (where it wasn't working properly) so I can't comment beyond that.

Thanks for the link ,Nick.
I do not use the spyder software delivered with my cal sensor.
Argyll / DispcalGui Do same profiles like those delivered with your screen
http://dispcalgui.hoech.net/
It generates the icm and the icc profile.
The icc profiles are loaded from the control panel of Windows.
One per screen.
So, Windows cannot make any difference with another profile.

With the latest updates (Seven), it's much easyer than before ( simply choosing a profil, defaulting it was not enough some months ago : you had to enter some hidden parameters to get your Icc loaded on each screen.

My guess would be :
"LAB" used by Vegas pro : it's does not need any profile. How can you display a Lab color on an uncalibrated screen ? I'm waiting for the Sony answer.;

I have been working with icm and icc for years - that was my job. Today, I understand I'm missing something ... for years - never worked with LAB colors - shame on me.
But unneeded for my customers who use RGB /CMJN only. (printers mostly)

To be followed...

I have found what was happening.
First, I use an Asus 3D monitor.
When I launch Vegas pro 12, the setting (cinema) of my monitor switches to "3D". With or without 3D preview.
When I close vegas pro, the 3D mode switches off. Back to cinema mode and it's corresponding icc profile.

How to work with a calibrated monitor :
1 Enter Nvidia control panel
2 disable 3D from there
3 start Vegas pro
4 enable 3D from Nvidia control panel

The monitor will enter the 3D mode ONLY if you preview your project on your "external monitor".
And switch the 3D mode off as soon as you leave this preview mode. Colors are calibrated

I have informed Sony - maybe a bug fix in a future realease.
I can now make color corrections in my projects with this trick.
