Ideas? Dust blow-off effect?

I was wondering if any of you guys had any ideas as to how to create the effect of an (book sized) object being covered with dust, then having the dust blown off of the item.

I just found out today that this is needed by tomorrow.

I do have Particle Illusion and Red, so I believe I have the mechanics.

Just wondering if you guys had any helpful ideas.

As always, thanks much!

Has the live action already been video taped? If not, just dust the object with talc and then have the actor blow it off.

If it's been filmed and you have to do it in post, you'll be up all night.

Use a mask to be the "wind" that blows the partices. Animate the mask to fit the the seizing of the book.

Concept described here.

I don't have any of the software, but was faced with a similar situation where I wanted smoke to appear after a still photo candle was "extinguished." I set a real candle up in front of a totally unlit, black background, used a single key light to illuminate the candle, and then filmed while I snuffed the candle. I was able to use Vegas to key out everything below a certain luma value, leaving only the smoke, and then composited that into the actual picture on the track below. Perhaps you could do as Jay suggested but, using this approach, you'd still be able to use your existing footage.
