If I install the Neoscene trial...

If I install the Cineform Neoscene trial will it affect the HDV Cineform intermediates already included in Vegas - so that if I decide against NeoScene and remove it - will it mess up the included Intermediate codecs? Thanks for any input on this.

I just installed the NeoScene trial 2 weeks ago (Vista 64). The trial expired and I can no longer render to Cineform intermediate. I haven't tried reinstalling Vegas but I have tried reinstalling Cineform's free player, but it didn't work.

Hmmm...good to know. I would be greatly interested if others have had the same problem.

Are there any limitations to the trial other than the two week window?

The neo scene trial is just that... a trial. Playing with it is what you're supposed to do, but attempting a full project with a 14 day trial of ANY kind is just begging for trouble.

Just like any other trial.... after 14 days it stops working and no... it does not have to (and won't) allow you to finish your project.

No other limitations.

Yeah, sometimes installing the trial of cineform products
and having it until the trial expires can sometimes throw your
cineform workflow out of wack ...but no biggie...
Just uninstall the trial and reinstall what you had before. etc.
if that happens.

Blink, it is the "just like any other trial" part of your statement that worries me. Most trials these days have some kind of limitation built in, in addition to the timeout. For example, some let you preview but not render. Some put their logo in the rendered output. Some limit the resolution of the rendered output. Etc. But you are saying the only limitation is it stops working 14 days after install. Good, I can live with that.

But my question was...

If I decide against NeoScene and remove it - will that removal mess up the included Cineform HDV intermediate codecs that are included with Vegas?

I would be surprised that you would decide not to purchase NeoScene, but should you do so then install Neo Player. That will install in Vegas the codecs necessary for playing your DIs. Perhaps this thread will help http://www.sonycreativesoftware.com/forums/ShowMessage.asp?ForumID=4&MessageID=531362Neo Player[/link]

Serena,

From the info I have I would be surprised if I didn't like NeoScene as well! But I thought forewarned is forearmed. Thanks for your straightforward reply.
