@pioneer109 ... thanks for the alert. I noticed the availability of the update on Ignite's forum earlier today, but the download process involves having a current subscription to Ignite - or purchase a new 12 months subscription. Was that what you also found @pioneer109 ?
I think that this is important for others to know if they're expecting a free upgrade, it doesn't look as though that's going to happen.
Thanks too for the alert, I had ignite pro via Vegas 16 suite last year, and my year of free updates expire 26 august 2019, that's 2 days from now, phew, updating as I speak 😀!
I guess you are skipping vegas post now since you have the ignite pro working?
I have HF and Ignite, and so I don't really see any reason to go to Vegas Post. Most of the time, if I want to do an effect, I simply do in HF, render out as a png sequence, then import into Vegas. And all is well.
Well if the integration was better (can't tell without a trial) and the price was competitive or better than I 'd be happy to give my $ to the Magix family.
What I am wondering about (given the FXHome crew dealing with their licensing & updates) is: If you purchased Vegas Effects (if it existed standalone) 17* [I presume] would this also work with VP18 when it comes out or will everybody be forced onto the upgrade train again?
@karma17 ... thanks for the HF forum link, it was very enlightening.
At least one of the concerns raised in that thread hasn't come to pass these days, in that with my current HP Pro 12 months upgrade/support period, the upgrade from version 12 to version 13 went smoothly without a problem.
Re Ignite in VP, it's a good idea to check the compatibility chart on Ignite's webpage (in the bar of NLE icons just above the long list of Ignite FX, click on the Vegas Pro icon) as some Ignite plugins aren't available in some NLEs including Vegas Pro, those FX being greyed out in the FX list for that NLE. For the excluded FX, which mostly relate to compositing and layers, you'd still have to go to HF (or another NLE with access to those FX) to use them anyway.

The intergration is LIGHT YEARS faster.
Though, the CEO of FXhome made a statement that the next major release for hitfilm pro is going to have the exact same integration.
So. You can wait or buy now. You also have the sub option.
The take-away is that Ignite Express is no longer offered by FXHome (it certainly doesn't appear as a current product on FXHome's webpage). It would therefore be an overly optimistic expectation, IMO, that there would be an update to a what looks very much like a now discontinued product.
@AVsupport - Thanks for your post & let me first of all say that I completely understand where your concerns are coming from.
No, Ignite is not host locked, I don't believe we have ever done something like that. What happened with Ignite and the release of Vegas 17 was a very unique event that is very unlikely (but not impossible) to happen again when / if Vegas Pro 18 comes out. We always do our very best to try to preemptively stop these issues getting to our users, sadly on this occasion we fell short and we must learn from it.
Thank you for taking the time to post your concerns to us, we promise to do better next time.
I remember the past a little different, but let's hope there is a better future!
