Image Export

Hello All,

In every other video editing program that I have ever used,
I have been able to select a frame in a video clip, save
that frame to a graphical format (i.e. .tga, bmp, etc.) and
then use that still as a freeze frame, background or as a
promotional web image. It doesn't appear that Vegas
supports this. I have looked everywhere in the program and
help file with no luck. If this is so, will future
versions address this issue?

Also, if an image sequence (Such as a 3D animation) is
rendered outside of vegas, I do not see a way to import
that sequence to my project. I'm I wrong?

Lastly, I have also bought viscosity and I have noticed
that a right click will allow you to drop a clip from the
time line into the Viscosity program. It seems that I was
able to do this with the demo version of Viscosity, but
now, when viscosity loads, it says that my DV Clip is an
unsupported format.

I believe that Vegas is the best editing Software solution
for windows for DV. Great Job SF!!!

I found that in VV 4 beta, you can save the current frame in the preview window to eigther a JPG or PNG format. In the upper right of the preview window, click on the disk icon and it will ask for a filename to give you picture. NOTE: it will save what is EXACTLY in your preview window. So, if your preview window is only say, 85x85 pixels, you will hve an 85x85 pixel image.

Works in Vegas 3 too. Do a search for "still" or "snapshot" and I'm sure you will find MANY helpful hints on this subject.

You can import image sequences easily (have been able to since v3 at least), but exporting image sequences doesn't seem to be an option yet. Although I have heard that with a script (in v4) this will be easily accomplished. You could also export to an image sequence from your dv/mpeg file by using quicktime pro, which is very inexpensive. Personally I find the current snapshot function next to useless, as the export has been compressed to a jpeg. If you compare this on your timeline to the original footage it was snapped from there is a marked decrease in quality. I wish Sofo would give an option to export the snapshot as a tga or bmp.....Purleeeze??
