Image in crop window is to large & cant make small

I'm a newbie to VMS hd platinum 11 and have watched alot of videos on youtube on the pan/crop window and there are a couple things i dont seem to understand . First when i open a picture in pan/crop it is twice the normal size and i can not get it to become any smaller therfore making it tough to crop ,set keyframes,etc.the zoom % is at 6.3 and i cant adjust that any lower.2nd on all of the vids ive watched on the left side tool colum at the bottom there is a tool that you can change from a left-right arrow to a up-down arrow etc,well in my window that tool is not there anyone know why ?Can i take that window and drag it around and make larger ?Can i also make the project preview window as large as i want ?

Yes to both of your last questions. In fact, i usually drag both the pan/crop and preview windows onto other monitors instead of keeping them on the same monitor with the timeline.

What are your project properties, and what is the size of the picture? If your picture is too large to begin with you might want to consider reducing it in a photo editing program before bringing it in to Vegas.

Idont have a 2nd monitor but i was wondering if it is possible to make the project preview window or the pan/crop window larger ,like maybe full screen ,enlarging them and then going back to normal size when need be?
iIn the properties i have it set at full hd 60 fps ntsc.I am shooting on a panasonic lumix fz1000 which i am shooting full hd 60 fps mp4 and taking 20 meg stills.In the project preview window both of the 2 types of images play and look fine but in the pan/crop window only the still pics are too large and only half of the image is viewable (the most center of the still image.

Why don't you modify the pics (in something like Photoshop) to make them smaller and easier to work with?

I guess when i said "size" i should have specified "dimensions", as in how many pixels wide and how many high?

Yes you can resize the pan/crop window. Just drag out the edges or the corners like you would any other window.
