imovie video format

Does anybody know what video format apple iMovie captures in? If its being captured from an Sony HDV camera? And would I have any problems (i.e., picture quality or compatibility or whatever) if I tried to take that captured video and import it into my Vegas 9 PC-based system?

It will capture in HDV MOV format, which Apple has decided to make incompatible with Windows NLE applications.

You will need to do some sort of conversion to use these files in Vegas. I suggest installing Avid DNxHD 2.3.4 LE codecs on both computers, and using that to deliver to Vegas.

Is there a possibility of recapturing the footage using the Vegas utility or HDVSplit?
