I've read that Vegas 6 will import 24bit .wav files, but will it allow you to edit and work with them and the export them as 24 bit .wav files on CDR's to take to another Studio for futher production.
Yes, no problem to import or export 24bit wav's. Just drag the file to the timeline. Vegas plays almost anything. To create 24 bit files for output, either create a Vegas project with file > new project > audio and set bit depth to 24, or change bit depth in an existing file with file > properties > audio.
To "export" to 24bit, use file > render as and select template with 24 bit resolution. If you don't see a template with 24 bit, then click on Custom and set it there. When saving to 24 bit, make sure you don't have a Dither plugin enabled in the Master FX section.
