import from dvd

I'm trying to import some video footage from a PAL DVD burnt on a Panasonic
standalone dvd burner.
VV recognises the disc and will open a video TS file.

I have tried to import some of the files but the import causes the system to hang.

Any ideas on how to get round this and do you know which files I can import to get the pictures in.

All suggestions very gratefully received..
Cheers ...John McCombie

install virtualdubMOD and open the dvd file, resave it as a DV file (install the panasonic or mainconcept dv codec first) OR frame serve it back out to vegas (you need to 'wrap" the vdr v-dub file with vfapi to a fake avi file) ...

very fast either way ..

do a search on this forum for many posts on this and/or see the guides at www.videohelp.com

Are you putting the VOB files on your hard drive first or are you trying to import them directly from the DVD itself? If it's the second one, try copying the files to your hard drive first, it might help.
I just did this same thing about a week ago, it was an hour long program on a PAL DVD, I copied everything to the hard drive, luckily the audio wasn't AC3. Then I just dragged it on the timeline (took a few minutes to load) Then rendered out to NTSC.
