What kind of video? What file format & codec? Where did the video come from? How are you importing it? What software are you using? How is the source connected to the computer?

Video from camcorder dvd. File is VOB. I imported the vob file into Vegas Movie Studio
and got the whole video. I moved the video folder to a external hard drive. Now when I import the file to Vegas or Window Movie Maker I get only a small clip. If I play the same file in window media player the whole video plays. It is a mpeg-2

Did you try File / Import / DVD camcorder disc?

Yes, I no longer have the files on dvd. Importing as a dvd didn't work. I have tried a lot of things. This is a new one on me. What gets me is before I move the files everything was working like it should. They just won't open all the video in any editor , but will open in any player.

OK ! Some of the formats that I get from files after recording videos on this camcorder are VOB which will play on window media player,.and IFO which will import in Vegas with no problem. I have wasted three day because I couldn't remember that.
