It's because the audio is probably in .AC3 format.. which Vegas can "write" but cannot "read".

There are ways to get it to work... but you need to do a little research. Just do a little search in here for "VOB import" or ".Ac3 import" or something like that... and you'll see dozens of posts about this issue.

Oh... and by the way... it is VERY bad to edit MPEG video within Vegas.... do another search here for "editing MPEG" and see what everyone says. It is not pretty.

This is not <really> the fault of Vegas.... MPEG video was simply not designed to be editing... it is designed to be played.

Change the vob file ending to mpg then use "Besweet" to bust the sound down to wav.
