Importing 32-bit WAV files from Samplitude Studio

I've been using Samplitude studio for recording, and have a
project with 16 tracks of so-called "32-bit" (float) WAV
files.

These files load just fine in CoolEdit 96, and the display
correctly and play.

But when I drop them into Vegas, it builds some very
bizarre-looking peaks -- totally unlike the display in
CoolEdit96. And when Vegas plays the files, they may (a)
play correctly; (b) play correctly for a while and then
suddenly become extremely loud digital static; (b) never
play correctly -- just digital static from the start.

I'm faced with having to re-record all 16 tracks if I want
to continue the project with Vegas.

What's wrong here? The file is clearly a standard Windows
WAV file if CoolEdit96 can use it.

More -- it isn't just 32-bit. I've got 16-bit wav files. All plays
fine in CoolEdit.

But if I start a new project, and bring in one (by dragging it in
from the explorer window that Vegas provides), then Vegas does
something to "build peaks". This then results in either:
(a) totally wrong, wildly incorrect graphics that can only vaguely be
called a waveform.

(b) no waveform graphics at all (but track apparently is there).

Then, if I play such files, they might:
(a) play just fine.
(b) play as complete silence.
(c) suddenly become totally garbaged static.

When (b) occurs the entire project is static on all tracks, and Vegas
must be restarted.

I'm using Win98, AARK 20/20 with latest drivers. These file load and
play perfectly in Samplitude Studio, with no garbage, incorrect
waveforms, or complete vanishment of data.

This is makinig Vegas 100% UNUSABLE. Should I return it and wait for
version 2? Come on guys -- what gives?

Where did the 16 bit wave files come from?

I am looking into the problem.

I've sent you some samples. The files were originally recorded with
Samplitude, but in some cases were processed with CoolEdit96. All
files continue to look and play OK in CoolEdit.
