importing alpha channel with still

Howdy,
I've done this before successfully but I reckon I'm doing something wrong this time and would appreciate it if someone could point it out for me: I cut-out a section of a photo using my cheesy photo prog (Roxio Photo Suite). I saved as a 32 bit .png and imported it into V4. I place on an upper track and select properties/alpha channel/ pre-multiplied....nothing happens so I check to make sure that track's compositing mode is set to "source alpha", it is but I still have a white square arond my round cut-out. I then click "multiply (mask)" and the white is totally transparent and the round cut-out is translucent. I have a feeling the imported .png is okay but I have something set wrong in V4.
TIA for your help,
Randy

I too have Roxio PhotoSuite and it is my favorite program. Did you save the image in .PNG. Depend on position Upper or lower track you my have to key out the background(chromakeying) what it would be a black.
If you did not save in PNG then the transparent will not work.]
Have a fun

Thanks Rebel,
I forgot that I still have to key it out when I get it into V4. I don't think the guys using Photoshop have to do this...in fact I think they have a lot more control than we do...but for now I guess it'll do.
Thanks again Rebel,
Randy

You need to right click the still on the TL and turn on alpha. Vegas should see that its multiplexed alpha but I've yet to see it work it out right.

Same thing goes for uncompressed AVI.
