I captured the .avi from my DV camera with windows movie maker at 25 mbps DV-AVI format. When I bring it into Vegas 4.0, it brings the video, but no audio. Any reason for this, and how can I change it or fix it?
Hmmmmm.... well, there are a few ways to fix this.
1. Download Winamp 2 (NOT WINAMP 3), enable the Disk Writer plugin, and rip the entire video's audio to a wav file. Then, just insert the audio track right under the video track. This is helpful for editing in general because it allows you to do things like just cut out sound and not video.
2. This should go without saying, but:
DONT USE WINDOWS MOVIE MAKER TO CAPTURE VIDEO! It's craptacular. Instead, use AVcapture, or some other video capture program that ISNT made by microsoft.
3. Look in your capture options and see if somehow the audio track in the video is encoded into MP3 format (I know I have trouble getting Vegas to read Video with an mp3 audio track.)
