Importing files from Canon LEGRIA HF G25

I currently use Sony Vegas Movie Studio Platinum for editing my videos, which works fine with my Sony camera.

However if I want to import some footage from a Canon Legria HF G25 and edit it in Sony Vegas Movie Studio, is it possible? and if it is possible what are the things I need to look out for i.e. what settings, etc will I need?

Movie Studio 11, 12 or 13 should work great with that AVCHD camcorder, Habs.

Thanks, Steve.

I also have some footage that was filmed on a Canon (not sure which model) from a Grand Final match which the files were saved in the MXF format.
What is the best process to get bring this into Sony Vegas Movie Studio so it doesn't lose quality?

That could be a bit trickier, Habs, since MXF is not a standard consumer video format, so Movie Studio does not technically support it. (Vegas Pro does.)

However, others on this forum may have had some experience with working with it and may have some suggestions.

One solution, of course, would be to download the free trial of Vegas Pro, import the MXF into it and then Render As/Sony AVC using the preset for AVCHD 1920x1080 60i to output the video as an M2T file that you'll be able to edit in Movie Studio.

I have been able to import Canon MXF files into Vegas Studio 13 under Win 10 by renaming them to .MPG. However, only the video shows, the audio is missing.

According to Mediainfo, the audio is:

Audio #1
ID : 3
Format : PCM
Format settings, Endianness : Little
Format settings, wrapping mode : Frame (AES)
Codec ID : 0D01030102060300
Duration : 1mn 35s
Bit rate mode : Constant
Bit rate : 768 Kbps
Channel(s) : 1 channel
Sampling rate : 48.0 KHz
Bit depth : 16 bits
Stream size : 8.75 MiB (1%)

Is there a utility that can extract the audio to something Studio will recognize?

I am mostly a Vegas Pro user but installed Studio on a laptop so that I could load files from the camera to Vegas while driving back to the studio from an event. The purpose was to generate the .SFK files (audio peaks) while on the road. Convoluted, but it made sense to me.

Edit: Rendering to m2ts file was inconsistent. Lots of black frames.
