I have been trying to import media from another program. Ive been using Pixela ImageMixer to capture video and I would like to use Movie Studio to make a movie.
My problem is that I get a few seconds of video and then I get a black screen. Though I gety a black screen I still get sound.
Im using ImageMixer because I use a USB to transferr movies to the computer. (Ive been having a hare=d time trying to find a FireWall card for a Dell Dimension 4600c.
I appreciate any suggestions

Dell 4600C tech specs
Your computer has one PCI slot. If you haven't put anything in it yet then you should be able to add just about any OHCI compatible 1394 firewire card. Any local computer store should have one in stock or can order one for $25 or less.

According to that page, there is an optional multimedia card available which contains 1394 firewire ports as well as a few other nifty things. Ask your dell dealer about it. It may be a bit pricey though.

I'm assuming that your capture process results in an MPEG file. If so, this is probably most of your problem. MPEG is notoriously finicky to edit in Movie Studio/VideoFactory/Vegas. With a firewire card you will be able to capture DV .avi files instead and these are much nicer to work with.
