"The opened Reaper session has stereo audio on Tr's 1&2, 7&8, 9&10, and 13&14. And the rest blank.
Is this definitely incorrect?"

No, this is correct, I was wrong on the track layout.
Our standard is to use 10 tracks in an mxf. They are: Lf, Rf, C, Lfe, Ls, Rs, DvL, DvR, StL, StR.
The clip I uploaded is just a test clip.

Thanx Stuart

I find your GVG k2 server MFX has 18 'streams' 16 x Audio, 1 video, 1 unknown. i assume Grass valley has added a 'private' stream.

I confirm your finding Vegas seems unable to access Audio 9-16.
It is quite possible with simple text editor, to make a Vegas EDL session mapped to all 16t channels either as mono or stereo tracks and Vegas will display things like [Channels 8/9] but no audio is extracted.
Anyway AATranslator can extract all 16 channels as either mono or stereo wav files.

Thank you for your help.
The unknown track is probably closed captioning.
Our workflow requires us to edit programming, usually HD movies (50GB for 90 minutes) to remove obcenities, insert commercial blacks, and occasionally cut to time. We need a fast turn around as well, so transcoding, editing and recoding for air is not desirable.
We're looking at a number of editing packages, but they all seem to be missing one thing or another.
Thanks again.
