Importing Wavs

I tried out the Vegas demo and it's great, so I just ordered it. But I have a couple of questions.

When I import a 30 second wav file and put it in the timeline, it shows the wav is now, say, 3 minutes long. The original 30 seconds is there, but then for some reason the last few seconds of the wav are repeated, which stretches out the wav to 3 minutes. Why does that happen and what can I do to bring the wav in as?

If that behavior is normal, am I supposed to take the wav into the trimmer to fix it?

Thanks in advance.

It sounds like you have the event set to Loop mode which means that if you drag the event past the media's actual length, the event loops itself. You can check by right clicking on the event and going to Switches and seeing if Loop is checked. You can also look to see if there is a carrot indent on the top of the event anywhere. If there is, that's where the event ends and is repeating itself.

When I imported the wav into Vegas, I double-clicked on it in the media bin and it was sent to the Timeline; I hadn't dragged it at all. The timeline showed that this 30 second wav went all the way out to 3 minutes (the last few seconds of the wav repeating over and over when I played it).

I had right clicked on it and unchecked "loop" and it still did this. I'll check for the carrot indent though and post again if that fixed the problem.

Thank you,
