Hello, I have sony vegas 12, built 770. a very recent issue with mp3, suddenly, I couldn't render any mp3 and importingg one made an abnormal sound. I searched the web, tested many solutions that didn't work, reinstalled, restaured the computer... nothing worked. I wanted to do the trcik with the So4 in the intern parameters but So4 isn't in the list. Just as mp3 is no longer in the list of the renderer options... Do you have an idea ? Thanks. Luc, from france. I have windows 8.1 64 bits. asus z87 motherboard. RME UCX sound card.

From memory the "So4" plugin didn't exist with VP12. It was introduced with later versions.

Try a Factory Reset. Instructions here https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/faq-how-can-i-reset-vegas-pro-to-default-settings--104646/

Have you can tried resetting VP.

Has the host PC been offline for a while? Some of the encoder licenses need to be verified occasionally (aka, phone home).

Check to see if the <mp3plug.dll> files are in "C:\Program Files\Sony\Vegas Pro 12.0\FileIO Plug-Ins\mp3plug2" folder

As a work-a-round, render the audio as a PCM file and use an stand alone MP3 encoder. WinLAME for instance or use Sound Forge if you have it.
