Impoted music doesn't work

michal-b wrote on 8/13/2023, 6:00 AM

Hello to everyone,

I have got a strange problem with the audio. I never had this problem before, maybe I changed settings accidentally but now I can't find it.

I am a user of Vegas Pro 17 and when I create a new project with for example GoPro file (video + audio) everything is OK. But if i want to add music (MP3 file) this file sounds terrible. Below picture from Vegas.

Does anyone know how to fix it? And what causes the problem?

Try to change File->Properties>Audio>Bit depth to 24 and Resample and stretch quality to Best. Did it help?

Also update your audio drivers.

@michal-b  ... if you use the forum's search field re 'mp3' you'll find heaps of issues re MP3 in Vegas Pro, mostly related to a clash with Sound Forge Audio Studio coding (and in some cases Sound Forge Pro). If you have either SFAS or SFP installed, look at https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/audio-screeching-after-update--141380/#ca883354 to see if it helps - it does involve a Windows registry edit.

I solved the problem. I restored the default settings. I think that was the easiest way.

Thanks @michal-b for letting us know the progress. How do you restore the settings? is it resetting the VP?

Held down ctrl + shift then I started the application. After that new dialogue window appear with the question "Do you want to reset preferences to default"
