This question is dependent on the project you are using and the state of your machine besides the CPU. Download the Vegas trial to compare on your setup would give you the best %

Thank you Ivan. I'm looking for a base figure to compare with PRIOR to installing V6. And yes it would be dependant on the size and type of project. However, what can I expect comparing V5 over V6? Whats been Sony's test bench values - V5<>V6? I do rely on you offerring this type of datum.

TIA

Expect around a 2% decrease in rendering performance in Vegas 6 using a single processor.

I have a P4 3.0 and render times have sqeaked a few seconds slower with the new version.

I am curious about this as well. I would download the trial, but in the end all I care for is MPEG-2 encoding. I do a decent amount of compositing, mainly picture and picture, maybe 5 video layers. I mean the increase from 5 to 6 in AVI, would that be an all across the board increase in performance. Would you see the same increase in MPEG-2 rendering?
Also anyone here with a dual CPU system, can say whether or not 6 truely uses them better.

A bench mark would be an excellent guide. This could be on a 5 minute DV AVI with say predefined effect. We all could use the same to test. Benchmark figure
1) for re-render to AVI and
2) render to MPEG2 (CBR).
I could join in but my V5.0d refuses render MPEG2 (CBR)
