inability to burn Multimedia CDs

Hi everybody,

Problem description:
-I'm trying to take a pre-existing .wmv(v8) file and author it with VV3's multimedia burning functionality. Same thing happens when I just render the timeline to .wmv from the Tools/burn CD/Multimedia CD function. I want to add the webpage and the WMP71 installer. As soon as I finish setting this up and I go to burn the CD, VV3 tells me it has written the disc without errors in less than one second. It instantly tells me this. This is the first time I've used this function of the app. I can burn DAO CDs, TAO CDs, VCDs, without any problems. But as soon as I try to do this multimedia CD I won't get a progress bar or anything. It just says 'The disc write completed without errors. No errors were detected during this operation.' I read the disc through explorer and there is nothing on there. It's completely blank.

Things done to try to remedy this:
1) Uninstalled VV2, VV3, VF20b. Reinstalled just VV3. I thought maybe the apps got some wires crossed... That didn't help. Rebooted after this process.
2) Since I have EZCDcreator4 on this same machine (W2K-SP2, up to date WMP7.1) I went into VV3 internal prefs and changed 'Use ASPI under NT' to TRUE, restarted the app, didn't help. Then I changed that back to FALSE and changed it to 'use SPTI under NT'-TRUE. Didn't help. Reset all prefs to original form.
3) I reinstall VF2.0b because I know it has this same functionality. Went through its process and the exact same thing occured. I triple checked all settings on the app to make sure I wasn't selecting 'Test Only' or something. Everything is setup correctly.
4) I tried to not add the webpage feature. Same thing happened.
5) I tried doing this with various sources of media. .avi, .qt, etc. The same exact thing happened every time.
6) I updated the firmware for the Plextor to their latest release (1610AU104--version 2.1.5.0). Didn't change anything.
Anyone have any suggestions? Or do I just ignore this feature (although it sounds really fun and useful for business purposes).

Yeah, I'd get ahold of them, but I know those guys are swamped. I've got a friend who works there and their department has been hit pretty hard by the layoffs. Most of them have about 100 tech support emails a piece/day. Ouch. Not to mention a phone that never ever stops ringing...

A multimedia CD is just a CDr designed to work on the PC only, not for DVD player playback or for use in any other entertainment structure. Like a .wmv file burned to disc with a web page front end to it, along with the .exe of the application that will play the file. These types of CDs are excellent for potential clients because they can just be thrown into almost any PC and they will play back without the user doing a damn thing. Slap it in the CDrom and boom, the file plays. Not even a click is needed.
