Just to share and advice my problem and work around for Vegas' incapability to handle avchd and iphone .mov footage in one project:
Trying to combine these formats will corrupt the project and cause Vegas to crash. My conclusion is that Vegas can't handle AVCHD and iPhone4 .mov movie footage in one project. It handles both formats only if they're NOT combined in one project.
Obviously this issue should be addressed, since both are common formats. I had to convert iPhone4 footage to AVCHD format using other freeware software and re-import (replace) footage in my project and it all worked again. Thank god I didn't have to start all over again.
