Increase size of frame "canvass"?

Hi,

I hope I can explain this right so that it makes sense.

I have a photo that I'm adding some effects to, notably using pan/crop to zoom and spin it in, like you see on those old newspaper reels.

Once the image reaches a certain point on the zoom, the edges are cut off on parts of the spin, b/c it has reached the limits of the frame. Is there a way that I can impose the image on a larger frame of sorts to avoid this from happening? Is there something in track motion or somewhere where I can increase the amount of work space?

I'm having the same problem when doing a mirror effect when I want to mirror an entire clip - there's no extra canvass or frame space on which to do the mirror effect (I've worked around this by doing a 3D-track motion and creating an identical, albeit upside-down track of the same clip).

Hope this makes sense. It's driving me crazy. I'm really hoping to avoid using photoshop and placing the image on a transparent backdrop and reinserting into the video. I just have too many images I'm working with on this.

Thanks for any help.

If I am understanding what you are trying to do, you should be able to use pan/crop and zoom out on your photo. This will make you photo smaller relative to the "canvass".

I'm not 100% sure that this is your problem or if you have already thought of this.
When the picture is on the timeline, click the pan/crop button that is on the picture. Then right click the picture in the pan/crop window and choose match output aspect. Should fix your prob, lemme know

The "canvas" is the project video pixel dimensions with the PAR factored in.
This is in consideration of both your input dimensions and your output dimensions, which are largely dictated by convention and standard format compliance.
It is neither a conventional nor desirable practice to change these dimensions to fit your graphic preferences.
Hope this answers your question.
