Incredibly slow display of Explorer contents

I just bought a new computer (Pentium 4, 2.4 GHz, 512MB, 120 GB HD), and couldn't wait to load Vegas 3.0. For some reason, when I click on the explorer window, and click on a subdirectory with lots of pics and video, it either takes forever to display the contents (I'm talking MINUTES) or it crashes the program. Any ideas on this one?

never heard of that one but...

try making sure the auto-preview button is turned off. (little arrow with green play button at top of explorer window)

also try looking at the same folder ot folders with regular windows explorer and see if it takes a long time to display. check out the files and see if there are any mpeg files... try removing them from the folder.

it may be one file or one type of file that is screwing something up. it might give you a clue as to how to fix it.

I'd also try uninstalling and re-installing Vegas.
