Infinite looping

Hi all

I've spent a couple of hours browsing old posts and can't see what I want, so I'm not sure if it can be done. Hopefully, one of the resident gurus will be able to advise.

I have a 2 minute movie which is, basically, voice over the top of a .png. When the voice finishes, the .png reduces in size to allow a logo (just a Sony text overlay) to appear underneath.

I *want* that whole image to stay 'to infinity'. I can't predetermine how long it will be necessary to keep it visible. I can drag things out to some time longer than possibly required (eg, 15 minutes), but that gives horrendous render times. If I just had one of these things to do, I could live with that, but I've got 64 of the things to do, and the thought of 64 x 50 minutes rendering isn't funny.

I suppose I could try and find my copy of Architect and have the final image repeat, but I think it's at the bottom of a box that's currently in store! :(

So, I figured that I'd be better off seeing if there's *any* way to do it in Vegas.

All advice gratefully received.

TIA

Ian

What's your final output? -- Sounds like DVD. If not Architect, how are you making the DVD?

Hi

They are just DVD PAL mpgs that I blow onto a DVD with Deepburner. I don't need anything kinky like chapters and titles, just a list of files will do.

TIA

So the piece is on the DVD playing. It ends on a frozen image which you want to stay there as long as needed. --

Does Deepburner use menus? .. If so, can it end by returning to a MENU that's your final image so it will just stay there forever. May not be seamless but might work.

Hi

The files will be on DVDs in batches of 8, with other files that are associated, but not directly connected.

Deepburner just blows a list of files, which is why it is ideal for what I wanted to do, if I could get them to loop.

As nobody else has replied with an answer, it looks like I've got to go to Architect. Bwah!

Cheers

You want to create a file that something is going to play that'll never stop playing. I see a problem with the concept, especially if there's to be other things on the disk.

The last frames of the movie should be the static image. The end action links to a menu with the same static image with an invisible button which when clicked takes you back to a menu from which the user can select the other videos on the DVD. I'd suggest at the end of the movie having 12 frame of the static image before the end. Transition from the end of the movie to the menu should be invisible.

The last thing you would want to do is have the DVD player looping a short section of the disk, that'll wear things out quickly hence the idea of using the menu.

Hi

Thanks for the reply. I was trying to get away from menus and buttons, et al. The whole thing is so simple that it's over-egging the cake, for what I want to do. I just wanted it to loop until *I* stopped it, a time length which will be variable.

I can see why the 'looping' bit should be longer than a couple of frames, and that isn't too much of a problem, I just didn't want to have to stretch things out to 15 or 20 minutes, for a two minute film. I didn't want to have to spend weeks rendering 64 of them, or get too complicated using Architect. I just wanted to drop the films onto a DVD, blow them, select them as required and have them play until I told them to stop.

Looks like the only option is to dig through my boxes and find Architect.

Thanks for the replies, folks.

You can download a fresh copy. Might be easier.

Download DVDA
