Info on computer I need.

Last week I asked for help in picking out a computer to run
VV2.0. I didn't give enough info about what I plan to use
it for.

I'll be using VV for commercials, weddings, music videos,
documentaries... Later on I plan to use my computer for
multitrack recording. But right now I am just interested in
getting video and stereo audio into the computer. I'll be
getting video from a Canon GL 1, and also a Sony Hi8mm
camcorder. So I will need a video card with IEEE 1394, S-
Video, and analog I/O. For audio I need a stereo sound card
with digital(optical), analog, and midi I/O. What are some
of the professional video and sound cards that work well
with VV?

I've been thinking about a 800Mhz processor(dual later),
Windows 2K, 256MB RAM. What size hard drives would be good?
Is the amount of video you can edit limited with Windows
98? Is it also limited with Win 2K? What are the limits?

My price range ends at about $3000. I'm not that
experienced with computers so I will have to have someone
build it for me.

Thanks for the help.

Brad -
Here's my setup - I just recently upgraded and built a new machine:

Asus CUSL2 motherboard with the Intel i815E chipset. No onboard
video, ethernet, audio, etc. (approx $160)

Intel Pentium III 933 with 256k of on die cache (approx. $530)

Two IBM Deskstar hardrives: 75GXP - 15.1 gig (approx $105), and 75.1
gig for data (approx $340)

256 mb of PC133 SDRAM (approx $350)

Matrox g-4000 video card with 32mb of RAM - (approx. $160)

I have a Delta 1010 sound card which has spdif in/out and 8 in and 8
out. No optical. I don't know what to recommend for that. Ardvaark?
I use a TI IEEE1394 card - no analog ins. I use my camera as a
through for those connections. I think Pinnacle makes a card that has
a few.

Anyway, the computer is pretty sweet - fast and not too expensive.
Works like a charm with VV.

good luck
