Insatlling Vegas 5b

I have tried everything I know to get 5b to install. I can install 5a with no problems but 5b keeps returning the following message.

Error 2932 Could not creat file
C:\windows\Insaller\{A7401380-F015-475B-A5AA-7AE1F23B3DB3}\icon_veg.ico from script data Error:23

please help or do I really need Vegas 5b OS XP SP1 1gb ram P4

Suggest you unistall and clean file structure and registry. Do some system maintanenece, defrag and start again. I'm sure it will be fine then. There is no reason why 5b should be any different from 5a.

I have not idea what could be wrong...
Try what mhbstevens suggested and make sure you delete the Sony Vegas setup directory in program files as well.
Just a couple of suggestions:
I suppose you try to install Vegas 5.0b update not the trial version, Can you download Vegas 5.0b update from Sony that is actually a full version (not the trial version) and try again?
The reason I suggest this is because the error you receive according to MS can occur if the installation package has been incorrectly authored. The error codes numbered greater than 2000 are Windows Installer internal errors. This just in case the package has got corrupted or damaged somehow.
Install under the Administrator account not as a power user or under any other account
