Insert Event into Timeline

I want to insert an event onto the timeline at the cursor. If I drag or double-click the new event, it places it "on top" of whatever might be to the right of the cursor. Is there any way to insert the new event and move everything to the right at the same time, much like the "Paste Insert" command does? Thanks in advance.

I would suggest you group your events ( I am assuming you are moving other clips around on the same timeline that are not grouped) and do what you need to do, then ungroup them as you need to. Right click your clip, select group etc. The whole group should move when a new clip is paste inserted.

do you have auto-ripple set (up in toolbar)?? from what you described, an insert did not happen because the surrounding events were not automatically pushed over to make room for your new event..

- right, and please do not forget to set auto-ripple to "affect all tracks"
