inserting audio and video

Grettings,

I am attempting something new with DVDA4 - something I didn't do with DVDA1 - rendering a seperate MPG video file and a seperate AC3 audio file. My problem is that I don't know how to get the two connected in DVDA4 now that they are seperate. If I drag the MPG file and drop it on the main (workspace) layout screen, it turns into the background for the main menu. If I drag the MPG to the timeline, it becomes the background for the main menu. I want to be able to drop the MPG onto the main menu - have it turn into a clickable button, and start playing the dvd with audio and video like I used to do. I know one solution would be to render the video and audio together as I have in the past, but it's probably not the "correct" or most efficient way to do things. The manual doesn't help much, neither does the help section.

I've tried creating a sub-menu on the main menu, and when I drop into the sub menu and add the AC3 file and the MPG file the same thing happens as if I were on the top level main menu workspace, or, they show up as two different files on the submenu workspace. Frustrating.

Drag it to the Project Overview pane to the left side. It should show up with a
film strip icon.

Now drag it from the Project Overview area to Workspace. It will create a button
area for you.

If you click on your media file then look in the Properties window, click on the
Track Media button and you should see both the mpg file and AC3 audio file.

EDIT: I tried several ways of dragging th clip and the only way I could get it
to be the background was when I dragged it to the Timeline.

As far as the AC3 make sure the names match. (IE: clip1.mpg and clip1.ac3)
