Is there a way to insert a clip(s) file name as a lower third in a Vegas project? Much like a digital camera, in lieu of a time/date stamp, can a file name be extracted & posted? If so, are there any imbedded options or Vegas tricks that may make exercise less tedious?
Excalibur most certainly does add "Event" names to Events by placing a, what is called in Excalibur, "Quick Labels" in the form of a a Track above your Target Track. Works like a dream. Just did a test for you and it did 70 odd Events each now with its name above in this QL track, in about 4 seconds - marvellous!
Yes, it adds Markers and the corresponding clip number in upper track area, however, when I play the project it doesn't super impose the clip number in the preview window or the rendered project. Wonder if this functionality is turned off during the demo period?
Nothing is turned off in the demo period. Just select the events you want Quick Labels to process, go to the Quick Labels tab and select the desired settings, and you'll get a new track added that super impose the information you specified. You may need to make sure you use the "Automatically create regions on event" option.
If you go to the About tab, you can also open up the documentation.
Velocity/duration tools provide......Automatic resizing of events based on new speed....
Does this mean what I think it does?...that when one places velocity envelopes on a clip that those points actually stay the same ...instead of guessing where the points have to go to accurately speed up/slow down the points in the clip that one wants altered?
Randy,
is this function also part of the EX program?
It certainly does sound as you describe - the duration of the clip does not vary, regardless of whether you speed it up or slow it down ... that kinda cool ... I could actually use that sort of thing right now...
Yessir I think (if that's the case) that alone would be worth the price. I pretty much quit using velocity envelopes because it was so frustrating and time consuming to get it just right...now I usually just split the clip, change the velocity and be done with it.
Dumb question for Edward: I used to own Excalibur 1 or 2 (don't remember which) and l fried the hard drive it was on.
I moved to 64 bit so I wouldn't be able to use the old version anyway but would you be able to confirm my purchase (I no longer have the serial number or anything) so that I would be able to get the upgrade price?
If so please email me at Randy (at) CrystalClearNM (dot) com
Thanks,
Randy
Randy, for example, if you use Excalibur to change the playback rate or set the velocity to 50%, it will double the length of that event. Tell it to change the playback rate or set the velocity to 200% and it will halve the length of the event.
There's also another option that will let you place markers over a clip with the desired speed and it will add a velocity envelope points to match those speed designations.
Thanks, once I provided the Storage Directory information, it worked like a charm!
Yes, that needs to be set to your desired storage location. I should probably set that to some other location "by default" - it used to work by default but it no longer will because of the new OS restrictions. But you should tell it where you want the images stored anyway.
Okay so if I placed a marker at one point of a clip and entered say 50% and then 5 seconds down the timeline placed another marker at 20% and played it back...are you saying that the start and end points would not change?
You also need to put a 100 marker at the beginning and a 20 marker at the end of the event. You would also need to put additional markers if you don't want it to change over the entire period of time. But, yes, after running that tool, the clip will be reduced/expanded to match the new rates
The first 100 would be at the beginning of the clip. Then it would change from 100 to 50, change from 50 to 20, and then hold 20 to the end of the clip. But the clip will be expanded to match the new length.
Someone here years ago said this couldn't be done (and listed several reasons as to why).
This is great..I gotta get this!
Thanks very much Edward,
Randy
