Inserting repeatitive transistions

What I am attempting to do is create a custom slide show in Vegas that allows me to time the length of a set of slides to music but avoid the harsh switching from one slide to the next. I want to insert a cross fade which is equal in duration between all slides then adjust the entire video time line to make it fit the music track.

Inserting one transistion at a time is really time consuming but I have not found any reference to this in the manual. Someone has figured this out and mastered it, I am sure. Could someone share with me how I can do this?

Mcuh thanks to the great participants and their knowledge in this group!!

one easy way is with the Ultimate S plug in from VASST. it will allow you to time it to the music , plus put in the transition you want, plus pans and zooms on the pics. All in no time. The time you'll save is well worth the price.
Plus you can do this with the plug Excalibur 4 too. each one does things a diiferent way. Many of us including me have both plugs and find them invaluable for use with Vegas. Check them both out, try the trial versions, you'll aggree I GAR-RONE-TEE !

Try the Slideshow To Markers script by Alexei Boukirev that’s on the VASST web site. What you do is drop markers in time to the beats of the music. Then run this script and it will align your slides with the markers, and thus with the beat of the music. I think it adds the drfault crossfade transition.

If you want more control, you’ll need to use a tool like Ultimate S. It will sync slides to markers, or fit them to music based on how many slide you select and you get to control the transition duration and collection of transitions that can be applied.

Do you have .net installed on your computer? You need to have .net installed in order to run any scripts.

to get to the Microsoft page if you don't have it. You can also get it via your Windows update. (free in either case)

I want to insert a cross fade which is equal in duration between all slides then adjust the entire video time line to make it fit the music track.

Options -> Preferences -> Editing (tab) -> "Automatically overlap multiple selected media when added"

will get you part of what you want. The other settings below the check box affects the duration and type of transition.
