My wife wishes to upload a video to Instagram. It is something I have never doen before. These are my proposed settings. Will these be ok please? Cheers John
@pioneer109 Your project frame rate is 29.9fps but your render settings are 25.fps ...
What Instagram recommends & what do you want to upload...?, As you wrote, GIYF 😉
For great Instagram uploads, use 1080px width with specific heights: 1080x1080px (1:1 square), 1080x1350px (4:5 portrait) for maximum feed space, or 1080x566px (1.91:1 landscape); for Reels/Stories, aim for 1080x1920px (9:16 vertical) to avoid cropping, ensuring crisp visuals by sticking to these dimensions and using high-quality files.
Image & Video Sizes (Feed Posts)
Square (1:1): 1080 x 1080 pixels (Best for classic square look).
Portrait (4:5): 1080 x 1350 pixels (Takes up most vertical space on the grid).
Landscape (1.91:1): 1080 x 566 pixels (Good for wide photos).
Reels & Stories (Vertical Content)
Full Screen (9:16): 1080 x 1920 pixels (Use this for Reels and Stories to fill the screen).
Best Practices for Quality
Width is Key: Always aim for 1080 pixels wide for photos; Instagram scales down larger images and upscales smaller ones, so 1080px gives the best result.
Stick to Ratios: If your image's aspect ratio falls outside the supported 1.91:1 to 4:5 range, Instagram will crop it, so pre-cropping to the recommended sizes prevents loss of important content.
For Reels: Use codecs like H.265 (HEVC) with high bitrates (25-50 Mbps) and 30 or 60 FPS for compression, along with AAC audio.
@pioneer109 Yes, those settings are quite ok.... Remember, editing for social media etc is not as complex as some make it out to be... The only thing different i use from you is that i output using Voukoder classic MP4 (H.264).
The only thing, if you see slight jerking in your final render, change your output settings from 25.000 (PAL) to 29.970 (NTSC)
