Install Problems

After Vegas 9 had a corrupt file due to a Windows Update per Tech Support. They sent instructions on how to fix the probelm.

Was told to completely remove ALL Sony prodcuts and delete all Sony information from the registry. This included also removing all file folders. I even cleaned out the recycle bin.

Took a while to do but got it done. Now when I try to re-install Vegas as instructed, I keep a message the Vegas Pro 9 is already installed.

I at a lost now as to what I should try now.

I was able to re-install the 32bit version but not 64bit.

I am running Windows 7.

I once had a similar problem with Vegas. I could never find the cause. My solution was to do a reinstall of the operating system on a fresh hard drive and then rebuild my entire system.. I kept my old boot drive just in case I was missing a file or something -- compared to all the frustration of trying to find out what was wrong this radical solution turned out to be the surest way to fix things. Even if you find the problem and get Vegas 64 bit running -- why did it happen? A fresh install answers all questions. To me -- worth the effort (took me about 3-4 hours)
