Installation after having already installed Demo

So, I installed the demo and spent quite a while setting it all up. (Importing settings and so on).

Finally managed to purchase the actual application and downloaded the installer, so I could install the other stuff.

I though it worth pointing out the following:

  • I elected to install everything.
  • But when the installer finished downloading, the only option given was to Uninstall Vegas. There was no reinstall option. (I thought I should reinstall incase there were any differences between the demo and the release).
  • So, I then had to Cancel it. And it then continued to install the other things I had selected.
  • And finally there was a X next to Vegas and the installer itself would not finish. I had to exit it manually.

Of course, I understand that the installer thinks I just decided not to install Vegas. But also, it thinks that I don't have in installed in the first place, (from the Demo).

Just a bit odd and maybe the Demo > Fulle version path should be a little simpler and more seamless.

Just for clarification based on my understanding, a trial version of Vegas Pro is the same program as a purchased version of Vegas Pro - the only difference is the serial number which applies different access rights (e.g. the < 2 minutes rendering limitation with the trial version). To change a trial version to a purchased version, its only necessary to change the trial SN to the purchased SN. From memory, opening the trial version always opens a window that offers a continuation of the trial version as well as having a field to code in the purchased SN.

Hi @Dexcon

Yes you’re right. And that was kind of my point. When running the full installer, in order to install everything, it did not recognise that v22 was already installed. Well, it did after downloading because the only option then was to uninstall it. Then when cancelling that, there was an X against Vegas as if it hasn’t been installed correctly.

It’s no biggie.

@Phil_P Sometimes after an installation, restarting your system smooth out a lot of kinks.

I had restarted multiple times. The demo was not installed on the same day

i work in QA. Turning it off and on again is always the first port of call. 😂
