installation freezes at "Creating video plug-in factory..." screen

I just installed a newly purchased Movie Studio 17 (17.0 Build 204) and the first time I run it, a window opens with a progress bar that freezes when it says "Creating video plug-in factory..." Just in case, I let it go for 12 hours, and no progress. Any suggestions? I would like to avoid re-installation because it takes soooo long.

Maybe something wrong with your 3 th party OFX plugins.
Most of the time one or more have to be updated for aa new program.
Do you have them and which ones?

Thanks for the quick response. My short answer is that I have no idea! I ran Vegas Movie Studio 15 prior to getting this newer version, so whatever was installed then is what I have. How can I check?

Maybe by looking at this? : " C:\Program Files\Common Files\OFX" or in your version 15

Thanks for the suggestion. The only .OFX file that I found is "HitFilmVegasBasic.ofx". I searched the web and found that others have had the same issue and the remedy was to move that file into a different folder to hide it from VMS. I did this and restarted VMS and it still freezes. Maybe I should bite the bullet and uninstall all versions of VMS and reinstall my new version and suffer through the long wait. Any other suggestions before I use the nuclear option?

Try first to start VMS while holding CTRL+Shift key and check in the Popup-window "Delete all cached application data", begore using your nuclear option.

Thanks for the suggestion. I tried it and VMS still hangs. I also uninstalled both 15 and 17 and re-installed 17, and this still happens. So strange given that I didn't have any issues with previous versions.
