Installing NewBlueFX programs on VMS Platinum 17

Mary-H wrote on 7/13/2021, 3:13 PM

I have three NewBlueFX programs - Filter 5 Recolor, Stylizers 5 Imagine, and Cartoonr Plus but I cannot access them through Vegas Movie Studio Platinum 17 Build 223. They are all products registered to me. When I installed them, I did the default install. My computer is a Lenovo ideapad Flex 4 running Windows 10. I cannot find any documentation in Help files either with Movie Studio nor NewBlueFX. When I open the VideoFX tab, there are no NewBlue effects in there at all, unless they are under a different name.
Thanks for any help in resolving this issue.

Mary

They don't have NewBlue in their name. But you can try to show third party fx to see if there are any.

Also if you add fx by clicking on the timeline event fx button you should see plugin folders. Look for a NewBlue folder there.

I don't have a NewBlue Folder. I have 32-bit floating, Filter Packages (which is empty), GPU Accelerated, Ignite Advanced VFX Pack, OFX, Third Party and VEGAS. So I take it the ones that do not have Ignite or VEGAS in front are the NewBlueFX, but I still can't find my new one that I downloaded today with CartoonR Plus.

Thanks for your response.

Did you try to reset Movie Studio?

(Press and hold Ctrl + Shift when starting Movie Studio)

I have now, and I have restarted my computer, and reinstalled the Cartoonr Plus. I still cannot find it :(

Thanks for trying :)

This is strange. This plugin shows up ok in Movie Studio here.

When you did the reset did you check the box to delete cache?

There was no box to check. All I was asked was if I wanted to allow the program to make changes to my computer, which I said yes to.

Maybe look at this topic and the second post. It might help.

@Mary-H
This is the box you have to actvate, after double click on the VMS Pl 17 pictogram with hold Ctrl-Shift buttons on your keybord. for resetting that program to its factory settings

If effects do not appear after installing in Movie Studio, you need to clear the Movie Studio cache. As j-v said, you can do a full reset and check that box. You can also only clear only the cache without resetting everything else.

Close Vegas, delete plugin_manager_cache.bin and svfx_plugin_cache.bin from C:\Users\{user name}\AppData\Local\Movie Studio\{version#}, then retest.

Keep in mind that the "App Data" folder is probably a "Hidden" folder so you will need to have Windows "Show Hidden Folders".
