installing transition pack transitions

Marc-Gold wrote on 8/24/2024, 11:25 AM

I have received a set of new transitions with my VP22 pro 365 suite subscription. I have downloaded, extracted and saved them in a file that I created. I need to know where to put them so that they are visible, selectable and available for use in a project along with the rest of the VP transitions. Is there a specific folder where the transition data resides?

Thanks,

@Marc-Gold They're created by adjustment events and shared in the form of .veg. To use them, you need to open these project files and copy & paste the adjustment events inside into the project you are working on.

@Marc-Gold These transitions are not like regular plugin transitions. Each transition is contained in separate Vegas projects.

There's a "Previews" folder inside the Transitions folder, and in the Previews folder you can double-click on the Previews.HTML file to see a gallery of all the transition effects in your browser. Find a transition you like and note the name. Then in a 2nd instance of Vegas, open the associated transition project (.veg). Drag the adjustment effects from the 2nd instance of Vegas to the 1st instance where your main project is. You'll probably have to add tracks above the ones you already have to accommodate the adjustment effects that you drag over. Some of the transitions are composed of more than one track.

This seems like a way to learn how to create your own transitions. But it's almost like you need a separate project for the "transition" effects with just the part of the video needed for the transition, that you render out, and then include in another project. At least that's the impression I got when I first played with it.

Intel Core i7 10700K CPU @ 3.80GHz (to 4.65GHz), NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 SUPER 8GBytes. Memory 32 GBytes DDR4. Also Intel UHD Graphics 630. Mainboard: Dell Inc. PCI-Express 3.0 (8.0 GT/s) Comet Lake. Bench CPU Multi Thread: 5500.5 per CPU-Z.

I've tried my best to follow your and Robert's instructions by opening a transition in a separate project, copying it and pasting it into the project that contains the two video events that I'd like to transition between. (I tried dragging the transition from one project to the other but it wouldn't work). I've tried placing the transition on a separate track (also tried placing it on an adjustment tract) above the two clips (I've tried it with the two clips butted together as well as overlapping one another) and the result is either a cut from one clip to the other or a fade to black and then back up from black. I don't understand how to get the result I expected from the transition as it appears in the preview.

I'm doing something wrong, I'm sure, but don't know what it is. Can you please help me. I would enjoy using these transitions very much.

Many thanks in advance. Sorry if I seem dense about this.

Marc

Following up on my previous post, happy to say that I was able to make the transition event work successfully after working with it a bit more. Very pleased with the results.

@Marc-Gold glad to hear that you have had success with the transition pack. Maybe you could help others by explaining exactly what you did!

Hello Reyfox. Here's the email from Magix Support that helped me learn how to work with the transitions in the transition pack:

Please find the instructions on how to use the transitions from our transitions package below:

First, start a second instance of VEGAS

open the respective .veg file for the desired transition in this second instance of VEGAS

there are previews for the transitions included, which makes it easier to find a matching one

select and copy all the events in the transistion project (adjustment events)

switch to the main instance of VEGAS

make sure that there are enough empty tracks above the upper most video track (use the transition project as a reference for the necessary number of tracks)

paste the adjustment events onto the empty tracks

adjust the postion of the adjustment events. They should be positioned right above a hard cut.
