Intel P4 3.2 GHZ, 800 MHz FSB - Here Soon!

Jay_Mitchell wrote on 5/8/2003, 2:35 AM
Intel will be releasing their new 3.2 GHz P4 800 MHz Chipset on May 21st. This will hit the market before the defects in the recalled 3.0 Ghz Chip are fixed.

AMD will also be releasing their Athlon XP 3200+ with 400 MHz FSB in Mid May.

Also, Intel is releasing 2.4, 2.6 and 2.8 GHz Upgraded P4 Hyper Threading Chipsets on the same day.

I know there have been alot of posts about upgrading older systems or buying new. So, I thought this would help.

We have over 100 Members in our Southern California Vegas Users Group and a fair amount of members are interested in buying a new top notch system to run Vegas on.

There are at least four trusted Editing System Configurators that I will solicit to see if there might be a group discount buying incentive available for a top level Vegas Workstation. If you have an interest in this topic - please go to the So. Cal Vegas Users Site and respond.

... but isn't there a risk that there'll be 800MHz FSB chip recall as well ? :/

I'm getting ready to buy in the next day or 2. I was going to buy the 3GHz with 800Mhz fsb. What "bugs" are you referring to???

Thanks,

MadMikey

This might interest some of you before rushing to buy...

Might depend of your needs! ;)

Wait! Don't Buy the 3.0 GHz Yet! Intel started shipping the 3.0 Chips on April 14th. Problems started showing up immediately and Intel recalled the shipped chips and put a hold on further shipping until the problems were worked out. If you are getting a Box with a 3.0 Chip in it right now, I would be suspicious.

It would be in your best interest to ask your supplier about the chip.

For those interested in more info about the Intel 875P Chip review and status - read a review on Motherboard.com

why are they recalling them? what happens with them? That is what I am wondering...
Arks wrote on 5/8/2003, 5:00 PM
I searched the net for any information on this "recall" and cannot find a thing. If you can lead me in the right direction I would appreciate it because I have a 3.06 system thats gonna be here on Monday morning and I would hope its not defective. LOL

I can't tell you what is going to happen to the 3.0 Ghz Chips that are already out there.

I am not aware of a problem with the 3.06 P4 Chip that you have.

This only concerns the Intel I875P 3.0 Ghz P4 800 Mhz FSB.

There is an excellent review on Motherboardreview.com and additional info if you do a search of the I875P.
