interesting find

up to this point, i had assumed that setting markers in vms while editing just simply set reference points for DVD-A to use to set chapter points but that the chapters themselves weren't 'set' until DVD-A did it's thing with the menu item links. come to find out that the markers themselves act as chapter points all on their own - no menus needed. i discovered this when i created a new project, imported the avi that vms created (w/markers) and played it in preview mode. hitting Next scrolled me to each successive marker point.
is this intended behavior?? are there other uses for markers considering that they are not called 'chapter markers' but simply markers??
if this works the way i think/hope it will on a final DVD, i like it because this way you can set chapters without being forced to create a Scenes menu. this was something that had to be kluged in Pinnacle.

Yes, it's intended. If you render out of VMS and have "include markers" checked, then DVDAS will pull these in and set chapter points in the video for the DVD.

The main/only use for markers when going to DVDAS is as chapter marks, but I use them in Vegas (or VMS) for keeping track of things.

One thing you'll need to investigate is whether these chapter marks are near-frame accurate with VMS7 - in the big brother programs "frame accurate" chapter marks were added with V7; if VMS7 doesn't have this, then your actual chapter position can be up to 1/2 second off of the marker position in VMS.
