Interlaced vs/ progressive display shakes on pause

I'm using Vegas 5.0d, and a canopus ADVC100 video box. I view the output of the canopus from vegas, into a monitor using the S-Video connection. Looks great, but when I pause, or move the video frame by frame, it jumps from field to field. I've seen mention of this issue in other forum posts, but no solution to the viewing issue. I'm using Vegas only for audio, so I never need to render video or do video edits..it's only a viewing issue.. So..is there a way to force Vegas to view only 1 field at a time when paused or nudging frame-by-frame so it doesn't jump madly? (I normally capture video via the Canopus with it set to analog input..in most cases i'm capturing the output of a beta SP machine, so I only have analog video to deal with).

Thanks. Jim in St. Louis

Set your preview window to Preview/Full, and you shouldn't be seeing this. You also are likely not quantized to frames, which is a problem for video, but it shouldn't be enabled for audio-only use unless you're cutting dialog for video. If you need better than 1/30 second accuracy, leave Quantize off, but otherwise, leave it on.
