Interlacing/field problem?

Excuse me if this has been posted before.

I am a semi newbie to DV and vegas.

Video shot in DV. In fast action shots, I notice an interlacing or field problem. When looking at a fast action shot frame by frame I notice that the fields don't seem to line up very well. A circle turns into a figure eight with the upper and lower field lines showing up on each end of the "8" respectively. It just seems that the fields are not lining up very well.

After burning to DVD, it really doesnt show up on the TV, but it also doesn't seem as clear as it should.

I have tried a few things with not much luck. Can anybody help a brutha out with this?

If you are seeing the interlacing artifacats on your computer, that is normal. A computer screen is progressive scan whereas DV video is normally iinterlaced.

What doesn't seem as clear on the DVD?

If you're previewing your project on a computer monitor, you'll always see interlacing artifacts, because computer monitors are progressive scan, and most televisions are interlaced.
The softness you're seeing on the DVD is likely related to the MPEG encoding.
