Interleave setting for DV Rendering ?

HPV wrote on 5/15/2002, 10:03 PM
I have a 7:19:24 length project I rendered to an AVI DV file in Vegas 2. The rendered file had 1501 samples more audio than video. That's almost a full frame (1602). I then changed the default setting of Interleave from every .250 seconds to every frame and the render was perfect. Is there any problems/disadvantage to interleaving every frame ? Why is the factory default set to .250 sec.?

TIA,
Craig H.

Different NLEs seem to handle this setting differently, and some I've tried really barf at changes, so I've learned not to touch it.

But I really don't think I understand your question. If I have a 3:00 song and I must match video to it I figure out a way. There's no 1/30 sec precision involved. And I wouldn't know how to test an .avi file for that type of accuracy anyway.

With the factory default of "interleave every .250 sec", I bet your rendered AVI DV files from Vegas have differnt length audio vs. video.
Easy to check. Just render what you have on the timeline, then load the file back into Vegas. CTRL/ALT/Righ Arrow to the end of the file, now horz. zoom in. You'll see the ends of the audio and video files pull apart from one another.
