Searched around but no joy. I would like to have a dvd automatically stop at a selected point and then start up at the request of the viewer. I know about chapter points but those seem to be "skip to" not "wait for me". Not sure this is possible but would greatly appreciate any help.
I don't know of a pause function but you could easily make it go to a still image at a certain point with hidden buttons that they then have to hit Enter or such to continue to the next segment. You would basically have 3 videos, your first part, the second part which is the pause (either a still image or a frame of video), and then the third part which continues upon hitting the remote.
No problem getting a still and creating the three videos but I guess I'm stumped as to how to make the still stay still. No matter how I configure the set of three, the still always wants to play for however long one makes it. Any hints on that greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I'm so very grateful for your help I would have waited for however long!! Your tutorial is very clear. I am very familiar, from my failed efforts, with much of what you did but I would have never figured the menu-button trick. Again, thank you so much for your help; it is just what's needed. Maybe this should be wider published or stickied.
thanks for the kind words. I don't know that there is enough demand for this type of effect to warrant a stickie, but I think it is a neat undocumented feature that could be used in a lot of situations where you want transparent navigation.

A very neat solution to what appears to be a complex problem.
