What was the parameter that would change the amount of fade when splitting an audio clip?

click options - preferences - editing - then set your quick fade length. You can also set your cut to overlap here as well. (This will affect the entire project)

you can also hover over the edge and a little arc with a line should pop up where you can click and hold on the event and slide the fade wherever you want. you should also have a pop up that allows you to select the type of fade

Thanks again. I set it some time ago, but just noticed it was rolling off the audio at the splits. Don't like having to remember to fix it manually. For the life of me I couldn't remember which parameter it was.
