Invalid Device!?

Hi, I connected a secondary monitor for preview purposes. Worked fine yesterday but today 8.1 & 9.1 says Invalid Device selected, while the correct device is selected as preview device.
Even if I disconnect the secondary monitor and select the primary monitor as preview device I get this message.
In other words, I have no preview anymore.
Yesterday's set-up was Primary Monitor connected on HDMI, Secondary Momitor on DVI. Today I changed that to Primary Monitor to DVI en Secondary Monitor to SUB. Works fine in all applications and Windws (Vista 64).
Funny thing is that when I place the cursor somewhere on the timeline I see the frame on the preview device. Cannot move the cursor though.
I ran out of ideas.
Suggestions?

Haven't heard this one, but perhaps try resetting your layouts?
Also, if you don't have any presets that you've created, you might try resetting Vegas (CTRL+SHIFT while launching Vegas).

Hi Spot, didn't know that, resetting Vegas. You do that during splash screen?
Resetting laypouts is also I never did. Have to find out how to do that.
In the mean time I reconnected the monitors to the original configuration (HDMI and DVI), which did not work out either. Even selecting display 1 as preview device caused the same error.
The only thing that worked, besides your suggestions, was restoring windows to an earlier restore point.

I also posted this recently:
I have a simple project. One video track, text overlay track, one photo, two audio tracks (surround).
Project media is HDV 25P (shot with Sony Z7).
Rendering in 8.1 to HDV 1080 Progressive no problem.
Opening the same project in 9.1 and rendering to the same template immediately generates "an unknown error occurred" message.
I'm going nuts!
Any thought on this?

Since I have you on the line. I contacted you some months ago (through VASST) concerning a Sony Z7 issue, which I also discussed with Sony support in the UK. I have your instruction DVD on de Z7.
I guess I found a design error, namely the tally lamps don't work when recording to CF. They only light up when you record to tape (but who wants to do that).
I don't understand that and consider this a design flaw and was wondering about your thoughts about it.
UK support kinda agreed with my comments but that was about it.

Thanks and regards, Dries.
